January 2012 - Planning Ahead
Preparations for the 2012 CSA Season Begin
We are pleased to announce that Whippoorwill Farm CSA will continue growing crops at Thimble Farm in the coming year. Owner Eric Grubman has agreed to lease the Stoney Hill Road land to the CSA for one more year to help with our transition back to Old County Road in West Tisbury. While we continue to seek a permanent solution for the Thimble land, we are very appreciative of the owner's willingness to support the farm with this extension.
With the Thimble land being used for growing, our Old County location, at the intersection of Bourne Lane, will be used for next year's CSA pickups. We look forward to both the easier access and the opportunity to develop our own land. The initial stages of preparing the farm have already started and there is much work to be done!
In the past few years, Krishana Collins of Bluebird Farm has used our Old County land to farm her flowers. Some concerned members have asked if Krishana will lose her growing space. Whippoorwill Farm will continue to provide land for Krishana in the coming year.
If you have a question about changes in the coming season, we encourage you to email them to us.
